Get Jotzen.

Jotzen is in testing. A Windows test build is available; the other platforms are not ready yet. Here is where each one stands.

Windows

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Notes can live in WSL or on Windows drives.

Test build. It is not code-signed yet, so Windows warns about an unknown publisher (see below).

Installing the Windows test build

This is a test build, not a finished release. Try it with a new folder of test notes, not your real ones, and keep a backup of anything that matters.

  1. Download the zip, then right-click it and choose Extract All.
  2. Open Waystone.exe in the extracted folder: this build was made before Jotzen was renamed, so it still uses the name Waystone. Because the build is not code-signed yet, Windows may say it protected your PC from an unknown publisher. If you downloaded it from this page, choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. To remove it, delete the folder and %APPDATA%\Waystone. Your notes stay where they are.

Published November 3, 2026, built from commit 70c16e024. To check the file was not changed on the way, compare its SHA-256 (in PowerShell: Get-FileHash Waystone-windows-x64.zip) with:

Signed builds will come before Jotzen launches.

While you wait for the other platforms

The documentation describes everything the desktop app does today, and the privacy page what it does with your data. Your notes will be ordinary Markdown files, so any folder of notes you keep now will work with Jotzen later.
