Where are my notes?

In the vault folder you chose, as ordinary .md files. Open them with any editor, back them up as you would any folder, and stop using Jotzen at any time without losing anything.

I forgot my master password.

Jotzen can’t reset it: your synced notes are encrypted with keys made from it. The notes on your computers are unaffected; you can delete the account and create a new one to sync again.

I forgot my secrets password.

Encrypted text can’t be opened without it. Everything else in your notes is unaffected.

Jotzen says a note changed outside it.

Another program (or another device) changed the note while you were editing. Choose Use the version on disk or Keep my version; nothing is overwritten until you choose.

Does Jotzen use AI or send analytics?

No. The desktop app has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising, and its window cannot make network connections. Text recognition in PDFs and images runs on your computer.

Windows warns about an unknown publisher.

Test builds are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen warns about them. Only run a build from someone you trust.
