Bring things in

Importing from other apps

Bringing notes in from Evernote, Google Keep and Notion, or opening an Obsidian vault.

Evernote

  1. In Evernote, export each notebook as an .enex file.
  2. In Jotzen, choose File → Import → From Evernote… and pick the files.
  3. Notes arrive in Evernote/<notebook>/, with attachments in that notebook’s attachments/ folder.

Titles, created and updated dates, tags, source links, formatting, tables, code blocks and checklists (as todos) are kept. Images and PDFs are embedded; other files are linked. Text you encrypted in Evernote stays encrypted and opens with its Evernote passphrase (see Encrypted text). Existing notes are never overwritten; files over 50 MB are skipped and listed.

Google Keep and Notion

From Google Keep… takes the Google Takeout .zip: notes go to Google Keep/ (archived ones to Google Keep/Archive/), with labels as tags, checklists as todos, links and attachments. Notes in Keep’s trash are left out.

From Notion… takes a “Markdown & CSV” export .zip: pages go to Notion/, keeping the page tree, with links and images pointed at the renamed files, and each database as a note with a table that links its rows’ pages.

Obsidian

There is nothing to import: choose your Obsidian vault as Jotzen’s vault, and it works as it is. Apple Notes has no export format to import from.
