Health, undo and backups
Checking your notes for problems, undoing changes across notes, local history, trash and backups.
The health check
Health in the sidebar checks every folder for broken links (with suggested fixes and Fix all), notes no other note links to, empty notes, links to missing headings or blocks, todos with impossible dates, notes that share a title, and attachments no note uses (which Move to trash puts in the vault’s trash, where they can be restored).
Undo across notes
After a change that touches several notes (a replace, a bulk todo action, moving or renaming a note or folder, renaming a tag, a Health fix), an Undo bar appears for two minutes; Ctrl+Alt+Z (⌘⌥Z) also undoes it. Notes changed in the meantime are left as they are and counted.
Changes from other programs
Changes made by other programs (Git, an AI tool, another editor) appear in Jotzen at once. If you were editing the same note, Jotzen asks which version to keep rather than overwriting either.
Trash, history and backups
- Notes you delete in the vault go to
.jotzen/trash/. - Local history keeps up to 50 earlier versions of each vault note on your computer.
- Back up the vault as a .zip (command palette) saves every note and attachment.
